Water left in a line freezes, expands and splits it, underground and usually in more than one place. Nobody finds out in December. They find out in April, when the system will not hold pressure.
Which is why the blow-out is booked rather than requested, and why the calendar is on the front page instead of three clicks in.
We take over systems we did not install
The first visit maps what is actually in the ground, which is regularly not what the previous owner believed was there.
Lighting is the other half of the year
Irrigation earns its keep from April to October. Landscape lighting earns its keep from November, which is when the short days arrive.

Fairfield and Westchester, and nothing further.
Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, New Canaan, Westport and Rye, from the yard in Port Chester. A blow-out window is measured in days, so the drive has to be short.
